Télébec extends its 4G network to Eastmain 2011-11-30

Mobile phone customers in Eastmain now have access to the largest and fastest network in the country thanks to the much-anticipated launch of Télébec’s 4G network. The 4G network can be used with a full range of new mobile phones, smart phones, tablets and Turbo hubs and sticks, providing access to high speed Internet anywhere on the network.

"The community played a major role in the $200,000 investment required to bring wireless service to the Eastmain region," stated Mary-Ann Bell, Senior Vice-President of Bell Aliant. "Thanks to this collaboration, users will now have access to the most advanced wireless network in the world, and the first site to be installed in this region." The 4G network offers mobile and wireless high speed Internet users download speeds of up to 21 Mbits/s (megabytes per second), and a whole range of devices from several manufacturers. Users can also benefit from international roaming services in more than 200 countries worldwide, including the U.S.

The 4G network features the following benefits:

  • Download speeds of up to 21 Mbits/s for a full range of wireless devices;
  • Exceptional mobile products such as multimedia smart phones with Internet connection, including the iPhone, tablets and Turbo hubs;
  • International reach for Voice services in 200 countries (full international roaming in over 175 countries).

Télébec is delighted that the 4G network ensures the most efficient gateway for upgrading to next-generation wireless technology.
