11 municipalities in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region will now have access to high-speed Internet 2006-11-01

Broadband project

Télébec is proud to announce that 11 municipalities will now have access to high-speed Internet as part of the Broadband for Rural and Northern Development Pilot Program that was launched by the federal government.

High-speed service is now available in Cloutier, La Reine, St-Janvier de Chazel, Lac Hébécourt, Mont-Brun, Destor, Ste-Rose-de-Poularies, Laferté, St-Lambert de Desmeloizes, Ste-Claire de Colombourg, and St-Laurent de Gallichan.

Once work on the project is completed, as a partner in the project developed by the CTICAT, the Centre des technologies de l’information et des communications (Abitibi-Témiscamingue region), Télébec will provide high-speed Internet access to 61 communities (including 46 municipalities) in the region.

In total, $20.6 million have been invested. The project is jointly funded by the federal and provincial governments, Télébec, the school boards, and the municipalities.
