A new digital cellular site in Val-d’Or 2005-10-19

Today, to optimize the cellular service it offers its customers in Val-d’Or, Télébec inaugurated its new digital cellular site in the municipality.

This most recent cellular infrastructure in Val-d’Or will help improve service in the downtown area and will help avoid blockages and embargos. The site required an investment of $120 000.

“There is no doubt that this new digital cellular site will facilitate business communications for entrepreneurs and make communicating between residents much easier,” affirmed Vincent Guimont, Vice-President of Sales and Strategic Solutions at Télébec.

The new cellular site is entirely digital, and will therefore ensure many of the advantages digital technology offers: call security, enhanced reliability of the technology, longer cellular phone battery life and improved technological applications.

The new infrastructure is part of the “new generation” wireless network that improves service for Télébec Mobilité customers thanks to its 3 main features:

1. Better throughput: Offers quicker and easier access to data, reduces connection and download time, and ensures better mobile productivity.

2. Transmission by packet switching: Customers are now billed based only on the data they send and receive, instead of being billed for the time they are connected to the network.

3. Permanent connection:

  • Makes communication simpler by not having to establish a new connection each time data is sent or received;
  • Instantly delivers email and transmits data without connecting to the network each time.

And because of the 1X network, Télébec Mobilité customers will now benefit from these new services:

  • Mobile browser: Access to enhanced Internet content through the telephone screen.
  • Télégr@f: Short message service that allows customers with compatible cellular phones to exchange messages
  • Email (sending and receiving)
  • Picture messaging (sending and receiving photos, downloading images to personalize phones or create albums)
  • Downloading ringtones, images for screensavers and games

By improving the cellular coverage on its territory, Télébec Mobilité proves, once again, how active the company is in its field and, most importantly, shows that Télébec Mobilité truly listens to its customers.
