Télébec website completely transactional 2002-10-01

October 1, 2002

Télébec customers can now perform a whole variety of account transactions by themselves thanks to the utility’s brand new website, telebec.com. It’s a completely secure, user-friendly site that is also fully bilingual. Télébec customers can view their telephone bills on line, find out their account balance, modify their account or make purchases, all with the click of a mouse.

"When you order a Calling Card, for example, or subscribe to a SmartTouchTM service or a long-distance savings plan, the data are now entered directly in the company’s systems, and your account is automatically updated," explains Richard Hélie, Vice-President – Operations and Customer Care. "Because it uses leading-edge technologies, telebec.com knows which services you already have, and only suggests those you can add."

A number of transactions can also be made with a credit card, such as purchase of a telephone or a LaPuceTM card, or payment of a telephone bill. These on-line transactional services are accessed by completing an Internet Credit Card Payment application.

Télébec’s transactional site offers another way to access the utility’s services 24 hour a day, positioning the company as an e-commerce leader in the telecommunications industry.

E-bill

Customers can also sign up for e-billing free of charge at the telebec.com website. Those who do will receive an e-mail every month notifying them that their monthly telephone bill is available on line. A paper invoice suppression option is also available free of charge.

A single PIN

On the first visit to consult an account or make purchases, Télébec customers must use three elements for authentication: their telephone number, their access code (appears on the telephone bill) and a PIN selected by the customer. The selected PIN can subsequently be used for transactions at telebec.com as well as for the Télébec Express interactive voice menus at 1 888 835-3232. Customers can access their account information only after authentication.

A team effort

The telebec.com website was developed thanks to the expertise and team work of Télébec, CGI, Logicon, Cognicase, Bell Professional Services (BPS) and Samson Bélair Deloitte & Touche. Logicon is responsible for regular updating of the site and Lino, Solutions Internet de Télébec, is responsible for hosting.
