Network Access Fees applicable to Télébec Long Distance Plans

Most long-distance service suppliers have implemented network access fees since October 2001. Fees collected are used to recoup a portion of the additional costs borne by telecommunications companies, notably to give all Canadians access to basic telecommunications services at an affordable price.

Télébec has postponed charging a network access fee for as long as possible in the territories it serves. However, to continue developing the telephone network in outlying areas, the company must now start charging the fee. Télébec is one of the last telecommunications service suppliers to introduce this charge. Unlike other suppliers, Télébec has shielded its customers from this fee for over seven years.

This means that Télébec residential customers who have signed up for a long-distance plan may be charged a Network Access Fee of $8.95 per month. The fee will be added to the base rate and listed under “Services” on your bill. Consult the long-distance plans section to know the plans covered by this fee. Your authentication (with your telephone number and your PIN) is required.

Please note that a pay-per-use network access charge of $2.95 will apply to customers who are not subscribed to a Télébec long-distance plan, on the first long-distance call made in a given month. If no long-distance call is made during the month, no charge will apply.
