10-Digit Dialing in 418 areas

In September 2008, 10-digit dialing, namely the area code followed by the phone number, will become mandatory for local calls in the exchanges that use area code 418.

Also, a new area code, 581, will be introduced in the 418 region. This new area code will be assigned to the new numbers only.
