Eleven municipalities in the region now have access to High Speed Internet 2006-11-14

Télébec is proud to announce that, as part of the federal government’s Broadband for Rural and Northern Development Pilot Program, eleven municipalities will benefit from High Speed Internet access.

Cléricy, Val Paradis, Villebois, Rapide-Danseur, Val St-Gilles, and Louvicourt now have access to High Speed Internet, as do Taschereau, Sainte-Hélène-de-Mancebourg, Normétal, Authier, and Authier-Nord, which rely on Cablevision, a high-speed Internet provider and subsidiary of Télébec.

Télébec, a partner in the project developed by the Centre des technologies de l’information et des communications de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue (CTICAT), now provides High Speed Internet access to a total of 62 communities in 46 municipalities in the region.

The project required investments totalling $20.6 million dollars and was jointly funded by the federal and provincial governments, Télébec, the school boards, and the municipalities.
