Mobile Take-Back Program

Will my mobile phone be recycled?

Yes. Télébec participate in the Mobile Take-Back Program, a component of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association’s “Recycle My Cell” program.

The program’s goal is to minimize the amount of e-waste entering Canada’s landfills.

Télébec will donate net proceeds from the program to non-profit environmental organizations.

What must I do to recycle my used mobile phone?

First of all, you must:

  • Cancel your mobile service
  • Pay your final bill in full
  • Remove the SIM card (if there is one)
  • Erase any personal information from your device, including text messages, contacts and personal files. You can use the free Cell Phone Data Eraser from Recycle My Cell to help clear your data.

After that, simply drop off your mobile phones, including smartphones, accessories and batteries into a collection box available in each of our authorized Télébec dealer locations.

Will you accept batteries and accessories?

Our Mobile Take-Back program recycles mobile phones, including smartphones, accessories and batteries.

What will you do with donated phones, batteries and accessories?

Once the collection boxes are full, phones, batteries and accessories are
sent to an electronic recycler. The devices are sorted into phones that need to be recycled, refurbished or reused. Télébec will donate net proceeds from the program to non-profit environmental organizations.

Once I have drop my phone, batteries or accessories in the collection box, can I reclaimed them?

No. Phones and accessories cannot be reclaimed once donated to the Mobile Take-Back Program.

Will you accept my used phones from a competitor to Télébec?

Yes. We accept mobiles phones, including smartphones, accessories and batteries from all wireless telecommunications providers or manufacturers, regardless of the age of the device.

What happens to the personal information stored on my phone?

We encourage you to erase any personal information from your device, including text messages, contacts and personal files. But rest assured that all data is deleted from donated phones when they arrived to the electronic recycling centre.
