Télébec has instituted some highly advanced measures to protect the confidentiality and online security of the credit card information used for the Preauthorized Payment by Credit Card payment method.
These measures are based on Visa's Account Information Security program, and on MasterCard security recommendations.
Among these measures:
the online form uses 128 bit SSL encryption between the customer browser and the web server;
the credit card number is stored in a database that uses a secure encryption device;
only the expiration date, and the first two, and last four, digits of the card number are displayed on screen or printed;
if a subscription to Preauthorized Payment by Credit Card is cancelled, or an account is closed, the credit card information is destroyed immediately;
an algorithm with a 100-bit symmetric key is used;
the servers that process the credit information are protected by a firewall, anti-spyware, and an antivirus that is updated periodically;
employees are bound by a comprehensive code of ethics that stipulates the confidentiality of Télébec customer information;
numerous other network access and equipment protection measures are also in place to ensure the security of credit data.
