On September 27, 2007, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) accepted Télébec’s first requests for forbearance of the regulation of local services in certain telephone exchanges. Other requests are also often submitted to the CRTC in order to obtain forbearance in other exchanges as soon as the set criteria have been met. The forbearance of the regulation of local services means that these exchange services will now be offered in accordance with Télébec’s unregulated terms of service, which set the fundamental rights, obligations and restrictions applicable to the Company and its subscribers.
This means that, in these telephone exchanges, Télébec is no longer required to obtain the prior approval of the CRTC in matters pertaining to the provision of many local services and their rates. In these telephone exchanges, Télébec now has the option of offering a wider range of service packs and promotions at even more competitive rates.
Please note that Télébec will continue to offer local telephone service in accordance with the terms and conditions stated in the "Unregulated Terms of Service" (PDF 90 K). For more information, please contact one of our customer service representatives at 1-888-TÉLÉBEC (835-3232).
